About

About

I am an enthusiastic and highly motivated pianist, clarinetist and singer currently studying BA Music final year at Middlesex University London. I have been playing the piano for over fifteen years. I have a positive, fun, enthusiastic personality with strong interpersonal skills. I am organized, resourceful and passionate about the importance of music education.

One of my career goals is to encourage and care for children and adults alike by promoting their creative abilities through music. I am able to teach in a variety of technical exercises like scales, arpeggios, etc and a variety of musical styles, understanding music theory and performing live on stage. I am able to make you understand the sessions in a simple and interesting manner. I use an effective variety of teaching techniques to make lessons fun and enjoyable.

I have worked voluntarily at Sacred Heart Convent Sri Lanka and currently, I am working in a music academy at Edgware as a piano/keyboard tutor also doing private home tuition.

I teach from home (Harpenden Hertfordshire) as well as travel 1 mile if you have a piano/keyboard at home.

I have an Enhanced DBS Certificate.

“I believe that playing an instrument is enjoyable, rewarding and has several benefits – it supports learning, building skills in other areas and boosts mental abilities”

“Garshika is very knowledgeable in music, as she has years of experience and she is absolutely brilliant with teaching as well. My son is a 9-year-old boy, how was reluctant to attend a trial lesson at the beginning but after the lesson to my surprise, he enjoyed it a lot. Now he has become a regular student of hers. She assists us with what books to get and what kind of Piano to buy. So I would highly recommend for anyone to take her lessons irrespective of age and what level you’re in music.”
