About

About

Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, all the way back to Cagliari, Italy, where I was born and raised. During these formative years, alongside studying classical guitar, private tuition in jazz guitar particularly fuelled my passion for modern styles, with the music of Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Led Zeppelin, and Pat Metheny providing a window to the fascinating world of rock, jazz, and blues.

Nowadays, as a freelance session guitarist and guitar tutor, I have a wealth of experience in live music, studio recording, session playing, and songwriting and enjoy the versatility and creativity of working across a wide range of genres.

As a guitar teacher, I have been catering to beginners as well as those at an intermediate level and beyond. My lessons combine practice and theory so the student will not only learn how to play a chord or a song but he/she will also understand how chords and scales work together.

I’m experienced in teaching kids as well as adults, I hold an enhanced DBS check and I can also help the student in case he/she is looking to attend a grade examination. I strive to make my lessons fun and interactive as I always provide bespoke studying materials.

They are personalized to fit the student’s needs. Whether he/she just recently picked up a guitar, he/she is on a more advanced level, or he/she needs more inspiration and motivation to develop his/her existing skills. I love teaching and my greatest reward is seeing the student achieve his/her goals!

I offer discounts for bookings of 5 or more classes.

It is an extra £10 if the lesson is conducted at your house (depending on how far I have to travel).

I also teach the ukulele to beginners/intermediate players and I offer transcriptions for acoustic and electric guitar, with tabs, standard music notation and lyrics in sync with the score. Please get in touch for a quote – I can also provide examples of previous transcriptions.

Cancelation & Rescheduling Policy
  • Cancellations – Any student who wishes to cancel a lesson will need to give at least 24 hours’ clear notice, in which case no fee will be payable. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given, then the full lesson cost will be payable. I will waive this in exceptional circumstances (family emergencies, accidents etc.) but it will be at my discretion.
  • Block of lessons – Blocks of lessons are not refundable, and you are committed to starting within 6 months of the purchase. The same cancellation policy of at least 24 hours applies to each lesson in the block.
  • Postponement – To count as a postponement, the re-scheduled lesson must be given within the same week, otherwise, it will be treated as a cancellation. I will always do everything I can to re-schedule lessons within the same week but please remember I have other students to see!
  • Sickness – Please don’t attend the lesson in person if you are unwell, we can do the lesson online instead.
  • Late arrival – I cannot guarantee a full lesson if you arrive late, but I will try to be as flexible as I can. If I am running late, I will always give you a full lesson and will try to let you know before I arrive that I am running late.
  • Bad weather – Whilst this is the fault of no one, it does impact my work significantly. I am now asking any student who cannot make a lesson due to adverse weather conditions to pay just half the lesson fee. I do appreciate that bad weather is nobody’s fault.

Filippo is a great teacher who I would recommend to anyone. Having been someone with some guitar experience but never having a lesson, he has helped me improve immensely just within a few lessons. He has taught me new techniques and helped me understand the music theory side.

A fantastic teacher making lessons fun and something to look forward to each time. He turns the pain that learning can be by yourself into an exciting journey and has taught me so much. Flippo really cares on a personal level and my technique and learning would not be where it is today without him. My favourite song I learned with him is All Of Me, he showed me all the different variations to make it sound really cool. As well as learning pop songs we have also covered classical music and even musical theatre too! Not only is he a great teacher but also an extremely talented guitarist, his skills and music blows me away.

So far we are very pleased with Filippo. He has a very professional attitude and clear learning program that goes step by step for a child to understand the instrument, the techniques, hand positioning, and how to play correct notes, pauses, and how important that is, etc. He comes with learning sheets for practice until the next lesson and suggests learning material for a child. You really get a full hour of a proper tutorial without wasting time on unnecessary chat with children or parents.

He is definitely not a”pick a song I’ll teach you” person, very much hands-on about his work.

Absolutely recommend.

As everything new, I was very excited to play the guitar for the very first time, and Filippo, with his patience, didn’t let down my expectation! I really enjoyed my lesson as Filippo is very passionate about guitar and teaching comes very natural for him. Can’t wait for the next lesson!

Filippo is a fantastic tutor. He is extremely knowledgable both on the practical techniques of playing as well as the theory behind the music. I learned an awful lot during my lessons. He cares about his student’s progression and enjoyment. I would definitely recommend it. I was also exposed to some new styles such as bosa nova which have really changed my ability for rhythm and getting new sounds out of the guitar.
