About

About

My background is diverse. I started violin at the age of 4 and studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School under Berent Korfker (Professor at the Royal College of Music). YMS is world-renowned as an elite institution for classical music education. My second study was piano and our general class subjects included composition, improvisation, music history, music theory, choir, orchestra, and chamber music. Following my time at YMS, I moved country due to family circumstances and switched into academics as a primary focus. Nonetheless, I continued my violin studies under Lars Bjornkjaer (Concert Master at the Danish Royal Opera House) in Denmark. Later, I returned to the UK for university and in 2015, earned a BSc in Biomedical Science from King’s College London. I continued my studies with an aspiration to become a doctor, however, after completing 5 years of medical school between Bristol University and University College London, I made the difficult decision to quit.

I spent 2022-2024 isolated in a quest to reignite my spirit and seek a new perspective through visual art and electronic music. Approaching music through an electronic interface has challenged my classical ideas and allowed me to redefine myself and develop a mature musical voice. I spend the majority of my time consuming large amounts of contemporary electronic music and continue to refine my composition skills and mixing techniques through Ableton Live software and DJ hardware. Currently, I live at home in Denmark with my father while I prepare to apply for a music Masters in Electronic Composition at the end of this year.

Alongside my meandering education, I have worked passionately as a private tutor for over 10 years. Now, I would like to concentrate on music tuition in violin and piano. I have the most experience with beginner players and younger people who I gain joy and inspiration from. I specialise in setting a strong foundation and teaching practical skills and techniques that you can carry with you forever. I do not follow any particular board but I can adapt to your needs if you have specific requirements. My objective is in the education itself – I want my students to leave with a sense of confidence and achievement, knowing that the skills they have acquired will serve them in all walks of life.

If you would like to consider me as your tutor, know that I will give you my utmost dedication and serve your best interests at heart. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. Below is a summary of my education for ease of readability.

I had an awful teacher before , truth is I didn’t realise how bad until i met camilla, she really cared about my learning and was very good at explaining things in a way that I could understand. I shot up levels thanks to her 🙂 thanks Camilla.

Camilla is one of those rare people that genuinely cares deep about doing a good job, and in particular, cares about her students and them getting the most out of learning music. With a varied background, including very strong foundational skills and knowledge, and a high degree of empathy, she can adapt her tutoring to suit the person and pass on her love of music. Highly recommended!

Camila has been teaching our daughter violin for the past 3 years, and has developed her abilities through fun, practical and theoretical methods. Florence enjoys her lessons and developed a love for the violin through Camilla’s calm, patient and progressive demeanour. Camilla is a fantastic teacher, and I would highly recommend her.
