Hi, my name is Nathan Reeves and I am an experienced pianist and piano instructor based in Newbury, West Berkshire.
I regularly teach in various genres and to learners of all descriptions. Should you wish to pursue graded material, expand on existing knowledge or simply learn for fun, I can provide fun lessons that will keep you challenged and progressing.
Having received an excellent standard of instrumental training for years in higher education, I now guide my own students in many effective and enjoyable ways. I am always delighted to welcome new students on board!

During my time as a professional piano teacher, I have taught a great many students of all descriptions; from young newcomers to advanced players looking to take the next step. My lessons will help guide and develop your playing with utmost efficiency and enjoyment!
For me, teaching has certainly been one of the most rewarding aspects of playing piano and I will always love watching students progress both their skills and love of the instrument. Enjoyment is key to nurturing a lasting relationship with an instrument, so I take pride in encouraging students all the way to show them what they are capable of.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
Whether you are just starting out or wish to take your playing further, send me an email and begin working on your goals as a pianist.
As a teacher, I have always taken full advantage of my own high level of education and experience within professional environments. I take pride in showing my students the same efficient practice techniques that helped me get results quickly, and that I still use to this day.
I have taught in a variety of genres, from classical to pop. Teaching such array of styles has allowed me to view the instrument from a wide musical perspective, benefiting both my own musicality as well as my ability to teach students with broad music tastes.
In the interest of motivating and inspiring students, I have always offered to learn songs to teach back in lessons. Though important, scale and chord practice is certainly not for everyone all the time. By learning songs that you wish to play, you will in-fact still be learning new and valuable skills!
As an online & remote teacher, I can give my students the choice of face to face lessons or virtual meet ups all from the comfort of their own home. This tends to work particularly well for individuals with tricky schedules or for those further afield.
I always ensure that my lessons are relaxed and enjoyable whilst also encouraging plenty of focus. Playing any instrument is a mental challenge, so it is important not to get put off if you can't play something perfectly straight away. To fully convey the satisfaction that even short learning sessions can bring, I think it is best to keep the atmosphere light and fun!
Though I like to add the relaxed factor, my lessons are tailored specifically to the needs and interests of the student. By setting clear practice routines and goals, learners can follow an affective path of progression to their aspirations whilst enjoying the achievements that come along the way.
I am asked frequently about local music resource shops and where to find the right piano or keyboard for you. Fortunately, there are plenty excellent music shops situated in and around Newbury.
Hogan Music is a great music shop located at 123-126 Bartholomew Street, Newbury, RG14 5BN. Their range boasts a wide selection of instruments that would suit anyone from beginner level enthusiasts to professional players.
Located at 207 Oxford Road, Reading, RG1 7PX, Music Man Reading is a shop perfect for beginners looking to test the waters. Their range greatly suits the needs of those who may not yet require a long term instrument.
A brilliant store located at 153 Friar Street, Reading, RG1 1HE, Hickies Music Store is the ideal instrument dealership for intermediate to advanced keyboard/piano players. Their selection of instruments is of mid to high range quality.
As a professional and experienced piano teacher and a member of the ISM, I provide fun, focussed lessons for all age groups and abilities. After recieving two degrees at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, and having performed at notable venues as a concert pianist, I am now taking my students to the next level here in Newbury!
[email protected]Lessons are priced at £25 per 30 minutes and £45 per full hour.
Lessons can either take place online via platforms such as Zoom, Skype and Whatsapp, or at your own home during my remote visits in Newbury. If you are situated outside of West Berkshire and wish to take up lessons with me, I will happily accomodate long distance online correspondence.
I teach all ages from 8 and upwards. Many adult beginners often do well in my lessons and it should be noted that age is certainly not a factor when learning and enjoying an instrument!
No, you do not have to attend a lesson each week. I cater to plenty of students who have various other commitments during their free time, so our lessons can be as flexible as you would like. I do however, recommend gaps of no more than two weeks in order to get the most out of your learning experience as well as to keep your fingers challenged.
Life has many surprises, and sometimes things can be too difficult to work around leisurely activities. However, I do ask that my students abide by a 24 hour cancellation policy meaning that should such events infringe upon our lesson time, you must notify me of the cancellation 24 hours prior to the agreed slot. This is simply in order to keep my time and your money efficient.
Send me an email and book your piano lessons today.
