My lessons are built around your needs as a player. I like to make sure my lessons are as enjoyable as possible for all of my students.
Together we will widen your understanding of music and the Mandolin. We can do this via music that you both enjoy and are familiar with as well as learning plenty of chords, scales & techniques.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
I welcome both beginner and advanced students in a wide range of styles and genres. I have experience in teaching both young learners and older students.
My name's Elias and I'm a Swiss/American/Scottish musician with over 13 years of experience in the studio and on stage. I've toured in Europe with my old band and I've played and recorded blues, metal, rock and folk.
I'm also a big fan of traditional folk music and have managed to teach myself the mandolin and the bouzouki, which I play in my current folk band Triskele. I'm 25 years old and have a degree in social sciences, but the guitar has been a lifelong passion of mine and I'm excited to pass that on to people as best I can.
I've been a mandolinist for a good few years now, and have developed advanced skills in bluegrass, classical, and Celtic folk both as an autodidact as well as learning from prominent mandolinists like Mike Marshall, Caterina Lichtenberg, and Laura-Beth Salter.
I am an active mandolin performer in bluegrass and folk bands, and I have dedicated countless hours to improving and perfecting my techniques. I would be delighted to pass this on to you! The mandolin is a wonderful instrument, sadly often overlooked, and it has been a major joy in my life to discover and learn to play it. I would love to share this joy with you.
You should contact me for lessons if you are a complete beginner, intermediate, or advanced player. If you have specific one-off issues or questions about technique I'm always happy to help.
If you would like to develop your knowledge of theory, if you would like to learn how to play bluegrass, blues, folk, Scottish or Irish trad, classical mandolin, and general accompaniment I will make a lesson plan that fits your needs.

I teach the majority of my lessons from my home teaching space, located on Rose Street, AB10 1UA in central Aberdeen. It is the perfect place to learn guitar, it has a relaxed and warm feel helping aid your learning - with students travelling in from across Aberdeenshire to take lessons
I teach students of ages 9 and up. I find that students younger than 9 tend to struggle with playing string instrument.
For the best results I would recommend weekly lessons. This is not essential however & you may take lessons as and when you like.
Please note Mandolin lessons Aberdeen operates 48-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel a lesson with less than 48 hours notice then you will be charged for the lesson.
