Hey guys I’ve got a girl who’s tongue twists round when she sings? Her posture is also unbalanced so we are working on keeping symmetry and tongue exercises including – behind the teeth then stretch out abit while doing vowels concentrating on keeping tongue straight without twisting but wondered if anyone had any ideas or if it might be caused by something I’m not aware of? Xx

Sorry, that is in no way helpful. I sometimes lose hope when people sing like their tongue is swollen or don’t know how to yawn. How do they talk or get through life? Sounds like something Matt Pocock will be more helpful on than me.

What kind of twist are we talking? Is it the tip that’s twisting?

Yeah if we’re working in vowels, it contorts kind of from the middle / tip. She plays alot of cricket and her natural stance has become a little twisted so I don’t know how much this is impacting the tongue/ neck muscles – I’ve never seen this?

Oooh, you should check to see if her larynx is off-centre too! There are some great tongue strengthening exercises that I got taught by a speech language therapist – happy to show you over Skype if you like!

Sure thing, pop me a message and we’ll sort out a time this week. I’m essay-writing at the mo so desperate for any distractions 🙂
