Does anyone do peripatetic lessons for schools? (All Teachers)
Another question from me (I’m so chatty today!) Does anyone do peripatetic lessons for schools? What’s your experience, I’ve got some work lined up and I’m a bit nervous about the prospect of short 20 minute lessons.

I did some for Exeter College – they’re great fun. The 20 min lessons are generally fine if you pare down your goals and be snappy with your explanations. But make sure you know where the closest water fountain, toilet and staff room is, and who to hand your forms to. Took me about 6 months to realise I didn’t have to walk into the pub next door to take a piss.

Kings School in Ottery St Mary. Their singing teacher is now head of music (and was actually not a singing teacher anyway) so I’m going to go in and do Monday mornings there (which is normally a lull for me). So I generally try to be working on three or even four technical aspects over longer lessons. Would you suggest I might spend 10 minutes on one thing, let’s say working with aspirate, glottal and balanced onsets and then I’ve got some time to then apply that to a song and then we’re done?

PS Ben peripatetic is just a silly word for a teacher that is not actually employed by a school.
