Can I learn to play the Flugel Horn?

Flugel Horn can be a very difficult instrument. It takes concentration, the motivation to push yourself and push the boundaries and a personal goal of wanting to achieve maybe a certain style or genre or skill. You have to be willing to put in the time and effort to learn the instrument from the beginning. Develop your technique, listen to your teacher, practice at home. But, in short, it is very achievable. Whether you have a clear goal in mind or only want to learn the basics, with practice and lessons with an experienced teacher you can learn anything.

So many people quit musical instruments within the first few months of playing, if you can get over the first few months, this is where it gets really fun and interesting and it’s also when you can start playing pieces that you both recognise and enjoy as a listener and player. It can take a while to build the correct technique but our teachers will always help you learn in the right direction and will put their ideas across in a way that’s easy to understand.

Some people try an instrument and then decide it’s not for them. I would still recommend trying, because you don’t know until you try. Regardless of whether you’re 50, 5, or 20, always try to follow your gut instinct with something like this. It can be daunting to begin with but I can guarantee after two lessons or so you’ll feel much more confident and comfortable. Regardless of your still level, our trombone teachers will make a lesson plan that works for you.

Beginners and advanced players are more than welcome to take lessons. Our teachers will always make a lesson plan that is built around your learning level and style. Learning an instrument is never easy but with the right teacher, anything is possible. For beginners you will learn about the instrument as well as the correct technique and how to read music. For more advanced players, you’ll focus on the music and styles that you enjoy and that you want to focus on with close attention to detail ensuring you really learn in the right direction.

No two lessons are ever the same and teachers love to make sure that your lessons are individually tailored to your learning needs. If you ever have any questions about learning or any issues, our teachers will always make sure to go over them with you. As mentioned before, learning is difficult, but with the right teacher and right level of support, anything is possible. Remember to let your teacher know if you have something specific in mind that you want to learn and they will always try their best to work towards that.

If you are a young learner or a more advanced player then also please get in touch. All lessons are built around the students’ needs. If you are a parent looking for a teacher then please check each teacher’s profile to see their experience and whether they offer lessons for children and in most cases they probably will and will make a course that suits a young learner.

Overall, learning the Flugel Horn isn’t easy but with the right level of dedication and practice, anything is possible for anyone.
