Hi everyone, My name is Ray Box & I'm a professional Violin teacher based in Chichester offering the chance to learn to play the Violin via enjoyable and informative lessons. I feel that the best way to improve anything is to enjoy what you learn, because of this my lessons are always enjoyable and you'll also learn at a pace that you feel comfortable with.
Above all else, I want my students to enjoy playing the violin. I will always make a lesson plan that is both enjoyable and exciting for all students. I understand that everyone wants to learn in different directions, I will take the time to speak to you and discuss which approach is best for you.
I'm an experienced player and performer & I'm confident I can help you improve all aspects of your playing and even help you develop confidence in yourself. If you have an interest in performing I have a wide range of experience I can utilise to help you prepare for performing live. I can also help you prepare for any exams or school work you might have. Alternatively, if you just want to learn for fun then this is also something I'd love to help you with.

I teach both adults and children ages 10 and above how to play Violin, Guitar, Piano & more. I have experience teaching a wide range of ages, so whether you're and adult or a learner please feel free to let me know your playing goals. I'd love to make a lesson plan together where can work on both your strengths and weaknesses.
I can teach a wide range of genres & I love all kinds of music. I can teach Classical, Baroque, Modern, Pop, Blues & Much more. I like my students to learn music that they enjoy. If you're interested in pop then that's what we can learn or if you want to go down the classical route, this is also something I can help with. Before we start learning, I will make sure we sit down together and discuss the direction in which you'd like to learn in.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
I welcome both beginners and advanced players to take my lessons. I will always make a lesson plan that best suits your needs as a learner of the violin. We will also work at a learning pace that you feel comfortable with.

I graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a Master of Arts Degree in 2015, studying under Nicolette Moonen and Margaret Faultless, specialising in Historical Performance. I have taken part in the prestigious Bach cantatas and performed in Masterclasses with well known Baroque violinists such as Rachel Podger
I holds my Licentiate Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music in string teaching. Before my Master's degree at the Academy I studied my Bachelor's degree at the University of Chichester and have had experience in many different styles of music and performed in various Orchestras and ensembles both on violin and viola
I also perform as the Cadenza Duo with Heather Wrighton, Harpist, and in two string quartets, giving concerts in venues across the south and London, and recorded in the famous Abbey Road Studios for various projects.

I'm now based in West Sussex, and alongside teaching and performing, I'm studying toward my PhD in Music at the University of Sussex, in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Music.
I approach all of my lessons with proper preparation and care. I like to make sure my students learn in a direction that they both enjoy and want to learn in. We will also learn at a pace that suits you.
I love to teach my students music that they are familiar with and enjoy. I feel that learning familiar music always makes us more driven to learn and practice.

My lessons are charged at £25 per half hour and £40 per hour for all students.
I take most of my lessons from my home teaching space on Whyke Lane, Chichester, PO19 8AS.
I teach both adults and children aged 10 and above.
Weekly lessons are the best way to improve your playing. This should be combined with plenty of practice in your own time.
Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will still be charged full price.
