About

About

Hello, I’m Rebecca Alderman. I started piano lessons at age 9 and recorded a ’45 at age 11 and my first album at age 12. From there I recorded 2 more albums and then recordings evolved into cassettes, CDs and finally MP3s. I love the ease of recording a quick summation of a song idea, melody line and/or lyrics as an MP3 onto a USB and come back later to create the masterpiece. Technology today affords a greater advantage for young and older students.

During my musical journey, I’ve composed songs, performed before crowds ranging in attendance of 15 to 5000. I’ve also had solo drama parts in musicals. I remember once, my lapel mic battery died and I had to project to the back of the balcony to be heard over a pit orchestra in a 1500 seat auditorium. Training in vocal projection afforded me success in that moment with no time to panic. From there I traveled around the United States and overseas to England, Ireland, Germany, Russia, India and Peru.

I love spending time with all people and getting to know their hearts and love for music. When my 3 year old, Jalon Micah, died in 1993 and 20 months later, my husband died in 1994, it was, without a doubt, music and my faith in Jesus that brought me through.

Today, I teach private piano and voice students online and in person. I also have classroom experience teaching ages Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st – 6th grade music at a local private school where I casted and presented an “all school” musical. It was exciting for all and the children were absolutely fabulous.

Now we need to get your fun rolling along swiftly. Voice students will become confident as we discover your unique sound from your chest voice, head voice and, of course, the “mix”. Fall in love with your sound in a matter of weeks, not years. Joyful vocal games, ear training, music literacy (theory training) and endless repertoires in our times together that will have you laughing and learning simultaneously. And who knows, our studio friend, Parrot, just might make a visit to hear you sing for him! Don’t delay. Piano students of all ages will not believe how quickly the lessons go, much less the amount of learning they are doing through music games and activities. Let’s get your music reading skills, composing, recording, playing by ear, by touch and with great expression going. Not a minute to waste. Your music will impact the future of our world.

Music Qualifications & Achievements:

Good teachers are always learning, too. I just received my Voice Teacher Certification from New York Vocal Coaching program under Justin Stoney. In essence, I’m a voice technician who can help you build range, smoothly connect your registers and customize vocal exercises to help you get through that difficult section of a song you need to perform. Every lesson is unique to you online or in person. I’ve recorded a double album of songs for learning challenged children that the whole family will enjoy; particularly, families dealing with the autistic spectrum.

I’ve also recorded an album entitled “Do You Want To Be Healed” . These songs were for a girl who experienced rape at age 17 and needed a touch from God to be healed so she could marry and experience a relationship with true love successfully passing on joy to her children instead of dread. I also authored my own partial autobiography called “Heaven In My Heart, Inspiration Ignited” sharing how I overcame the deaths of my son, Jalon, and my husband, John. You can find these recordings and the autobiography on my website and on Spotify under “Children’s Music for the Whole Family” and “Real Hope Real Healing”.

Currently, I’ve recorded instrumentals for journaling during quiet, refreshing moments that are 5-16 minutes long. These recordings are entitled, “Sounds of Water”, “Hope’s Victory” and “Compassion’s Mercy”, “I Am A Dwelling, A Mountain, a Gateway”. Song’s I’ve written and sing can be heard on Jango.com worldwide such as “Forgive”, “Emotions”, “Abiding”.

I am affiliated with Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI), founded in 1939 by forward-thinkers who wanted to represent songwriters in emerging genres, like jazz, blued and country, and protect the public performances of their music. Operating on a non-profit-making basis, BMI is now the largest music rights organization in the U.S. and is still nurturing new talent and new music. Though performing and recording were wonderful experiences and I love all my audiences.

The most fulfillment has been teaching individuals of all ages, coming from multiple backgrounds, education levels and who deal with learning and life challenges. It is an absolute joy to my heart to watch their eyes light up when they play a song on the piano by themselves and they’re able to recognize the song. It is a total thrill to me when a singer is motivated and encouraged to crossover that difficult threshold to discover a new skill they’ve developed to present that special music to the audience that falls in love with them and their heart and message. Teaching, discovering, and overcoming is my joy in life to share with all my students.

As a fine arts instructor for elementary students, I saw Rebecca Alderman interact with students, parents, staff, and supervisors. She was able to find that perfect balance between making class and programs enjoyable, while maintaining a professional demeanor. My son followed my recommendation and has enrolled my own grandchildren with Mrs. Alderman.

Rebecca is both intrinsically gifted and skillfully trained. Her training helps her as she trains and teaches others. She is patient, compassionate and encouraging as an instructor. The natural talent coupled with solid training have produced an instructor who is willing to spend the time to pull out the uniqueness of any of those who participate in her classes.

As a teacher in music, traveled with Rebecca to India presenting music workshops to a children’s orphanage, as well as to community adults leaders. Very well received and successful.

I had the privilege of having Rebecca as a music teacher when I was a teenager. She is very gifted not only as a musician but also as a teacher. She has so much impartation because of how well she blends her gifts to address the individual needs as well as the gifting of her students. I am very grateful for my time with her.

Piano and voice lessons are so much fun each week. My daughter is excited to go and that puts a smile on my face. The house has been filled with beautiful music and songs. My husband and girls feel like we know you, almost like you’re our teacher, too (LOL) I’m so thankful God put you in our lives. God bless you always.

Thank you so much for being a great teacher. You put out more than what is required. You really show how much you care for our daughter. It’s amazing how much she has learned in less than a year!
