Teacher Info
My name is Mike and I am an experienced drum kit teacher based in the UK. I specialise in helping students across the world through their graded drum exams through Zoom.
I have been a professional drummer for over 15 years supporting myself through performance and teaching. Over those 15+ years I have not only done thousands of gigs but also had hundreds of students of all ages and abilities. Whether you are looking to study from any of the major syllabus’s, I can help you through any grade from very beginner to getting your Grade 8! Not only is this method of learning fun and rewarding, it can count towards you getting to future music schools and qualifications.
I remember the first time sitting behind a drum kit as a 12-year-old, the first time I played a beat. I feel as excited now as I did then. As well as that I am so excited to help as many students as I can achieve their goals. As great as in-person lessons are, the fact we can connect no matter where you are in the world and work through accredited learning paths together is amazing!
Teaching Background
I have been teaching throughout my professional performance career. This has been a combination of private lessons and peripatetic lessons in schools in Dorset.
From 2015 to 2018 I worked for the Dorset Music Service where I was teaching primary-aged students through the Trinity Rock & Pop Syllabus. These students were mostly studying from the Initial Grade up to Grade 4.
Since 2020 I have been progressing into delivering online drum kit lessons. To accompany this, I have been working on an educational YouTube channel which will contain every song and exercise from the four main current drum kit syllabuses. These include Trinity Rock & Pop, Trinity College London, Rockschool (RSL) and Rockschool Classics (RSL). My aim for these videos and this channel is to have an online database of the songs and exercises to accompany online lessons as a follow up learning resource.

From there I gained other students in Secondary Schools and Sixth Forms who were working on higher grades from the Trinity Rock & Pop and Rockschool (RSL) Syllabus\’s.
