About Me

About

Michael graduated from Leeds Conservatoire in 2021 with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Music. On the back of this success, he went straight into his MA in Music at the Leeds Conservatoire, in which he achieved a Merit. Michael is currently performing professionally on a weekly basis, as well as doing classroom teaching in secondary schools, for multiple local music services.

Michael has been playing drum kit for 18 years and classical percussion for 11 years. Having achieved grade 8 on drum kit, and grade 8 on timpani and xylophone in his mid-teens, Michael began teaching drum kit to beginners alongside his A level studies.

Before attending Leeds Conservatoire, Michael spent a year doing auditions, gigging professionally including becoming Musical Director for a youth theatre production. In this time Michael also taught a beginner student up to grade 8 on drum kit, in the space of a year and a half.

Michael’s approach to teaching is making sure the main focus is fun! Students can expect to be playing and making music right from the first lesson.

Michael is a solid drummer/percussion player with a clear way of explaining things. I’m more than confident he’ll do an excellent job at teaching prospective students.
