About

About

Hi! My name is Joe, I’m a Manchester based guitarist and I have an BMus Honours degree at the Royal Northern College of Music on the Popular Music course.

I teach most styles of music but I mainly specialise in rock, pop, blues, jazz, funk and metal genres. If you have a specific genre of music that you personally enjoy and want to learn then this can definitely be discussed!

I have been teaching guitar, bass guitar and ukulele since 2016 and have taught students from age 5 to 70+ years old. I have a vast amount of experience teaching in a one-to-one setting, tutoring students both face-to-face and online regularly on a weekly basis for the past 6 years.

I have also worked for tutoring company ‘Front Row Music’, teaching guitar and ukulele in primary schools to various sized groups.

Music Qualifications & Achievements:

I attended the Royal Northern College of Music and graduated with a 2:1 BMus Honours Degree on the Popular Music Course. I have also received Grade 5 Music Theory.

As well as teaching, I provide work as a live and studio musician having recorded in a variety of Manchester-based studios and also performing in a variety of bands and ensembles including the ‘RNCM Session Orchestra’.

I also regularly play guitar in function bands at the weekends for weddings and corporate events, travelling all over the country.

A few key moments in my music career so far would be playing guitar in the ‘Manchester Christmas Lights Switch On’ to over 20,000 people. Performing on radio for BBC Live Lounge twice was also an amazing and surreal experience to be a part of. One of my favourite live events that I have been involved in would have to be playing guitar with the Manchester Camerata Orchestra for the show ‘Frank Wildhorn and Friends’ at ‘Manchester’s Palace Theatre’.

Joseph’s musical credentials need little introduction – he has an honours degree from the Royal Northern College of Music in Popular Music and also has experience working in live and studio environments in a variety of bands and ensembles. I began with music theory lessons with Joseph and we have recently began incorporating guitar skills and techniques into our sessions. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and is able to provide lessons in a relaxed and enjoyable fashion while also being flexible and enthusiastic. My musical ability has increased greatly under Joseph’s tutoring – highly recommend.

Really happy with Joseph’s lessons for my 13 year old. Joseph adapts lessons according to your goals. My son really enjoys his lessons and is making good progress. Joseph is an easy going, friendly teacher and a well qualified, talented musician.

I’ve been having lessons with Joe for about a year or so and he is a brilliant teacher, guitarist and communicator and a great lad and I thoroughly enjoy my lessons with him.

For the last year I have received weekly tutorials from Joe and in that time I have developed greatly both with my guitar playing and confidence. Joe is a friendly, patient and encouraging tutor who I would recommend to anyone whether your a beginner or not. He teaches in a way that is informative with relevant guitar theory and practical learning many songs of my own choosing. Without Joe’s help I wouldn’t be as far ahead on the guitar as I am now.

I’ve known Joe for over 12 months after I searched for trustworthy tutor myself. I had been playing guitar (mainly electric) for about 3 years previously but wanted to further my abilities by being tutored. when Joe and I first met, I felt at ease immediately with his overall relaxed approach to teaching. I started to learn techniques that immediately improved my playing and Joe was very good at quickly adapting to what sort of music I wanted to play. whatever I wanted to learn, whether it was a particular riff or song, or a certain bit of theory, Joe came up with the knowledge and method which suited me personally. he is very good at assessing my abilities and inabilities to quickly adapt his methods to achieve the end goal. but despite Joe’s relaxed approach, it was always structured to what I was leaning at that time. I would recommend Joe to anyone from beginner to someone who’s been playing a while. he’s very easy to get on with and really flexible if I need to reschedule a lesson due to work commitments. I will continue to learn through Joe for a long time.
