My Mission

I’m Izzy and I am a professional musician and guitar teacher who specialises in R&B and Soul guitar. I have over 20 years of experience playing guitar and 10 years of teaching in the music industry. The material covered in lessons will focus on getting you comfortable with the techniques and chord shapes as well as the creative and improvisational aspect of the genre.

It’s one of the most expressive styles of playing that has become one of my favourites. I am a big lover of R&B music and have released several sample packs of guitar loops in the genre. My lessons are for both complete beginners and more experienced guitarists that want to learn more about the R&B genre. I provide my teaching online to students in any part of the world.

My Lessons

Enjoyable Lessons

First off we will spend some time assessing your goals so I can create a plan that suits you built around your specific needs. We will set realistic targets based on the artists and styles you love to make it easier to work towards. The lessons usually cover a mix of technical exercises, theory and song work to help create a balanced foundation.

I believe learning should be fun and relaxed to help inspire you to pick up the guitar in between lessons. An important part of our lessons will be building confidence in your playing and finding your own sound.

Prices:

£15 per 1/2 hour
£30 per hour

Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.

My Experience as a Teacher

I am a music-obsessed guitar teacher with a passion for making learning fun and easy. It is always my goal as a tutor to help my students find their own voice on the guitar. With over 10 years of teaching experience I can cover a wide range of styles and techniques which is as valuable in R&B as many other contemporary genres of music such as Pop, Rock and Hip-Hop.

Alongside my Bachelors degree in Popular Music Performance I have worked extensively as a session guitarist and a recording artist. I published my first EP of self-produced tracks through BMG Production Music and have received syncs internationally.

I use my real life experience in the industry to make sure you get the most out of sessions, sharing the knowledge and tricks I've picked up along the way.

More About My Lessons

I welcome more intermediate students as well. We would cover topics such as expanding your vocabulary, refining techniques and learning advanced harmony. I find a good way of developing your ability is exploring styles and genres out of your comfort zone to add richness and depth to your sound.

Another way of taking your musicianship to the next level is by using the tools and knowledge you’ve collected this far to start creating your own music. I am always encouraging my students to explore their creativity by way of improvising or composing.

I teach many different concepts and techniques used in song-writing and production whether you use a production software or pen and paper. I use Logic Pro X to produce music myself and am knowledgable in production techniques that can translate to other DAWs.

How much do lessons cost?

My lessons are charged at £15 per half hour and £30 per hour for all students.

Where do the lessons take place?

I take msot of my lessons via zoom and skype which means you can learn from the comfort of your own home.

What ages do you teach?

I welcome students of all ages and ability levels.

Do I have to attend lessons every week?

Weekly lessons, combined with lots of practice at home is probably the best way to improve.

What happens if I have to cancel a lesson?

Cancel within 48h and they can rebook the lesson for a different date within a week. Cancel within 24h and the lesson in non-refundable and they have to rebook another slot.
