About

An experienced musician with over 20 years of experience with the piano. Michael Chang’s roots started in the Classical grade system, however, after discovering the art of improvisation, Michael went onto study jazz, gospel, blues, funk, and pop etc.

Michael is cool, vibrant and relaxed, and has a friendly, positive way of teaching music.

My daughter had done some piano before but wanted to do something more contemporary and jazzy. Michael’s approach is smart and intuitive. My daughter is very happy now and is keen to tinkle away and enjoy learning new skills rather than finding it a chore. There’s still attention to detail and basic piano discipline but because the context is different, I think she will come away with the sort of skill set which will allow her to enjoy and improvise music in the future.

All good! Highly recommend!

Micheal is a great teacher, he is teaching my 5 year old son how to play the piano. He has a great deal of patience while making the lessons fun and rewarding. My son really enjoys going to his piano lessons and is making great progress under Micheal’s tuition.

Michael is a great teacher, he has taught me how to play the piano from scratch. We always do a variety of exercises and keep it exciting. I’ve learnt to sight read, play chords and how to improvise. I feel I’ve covered so much more than learning to play and do the grades that I was expecting. He answers all my silly questions, and has a really vibrant attitude.
