About

Eric is at the meeting point between IT and the Arts!

Having worked for Hewlett Packard for 13 years, he was first an engineer, then progressed to trainer, manager, and, latterly, a consultant for the Asia Pacific region. He gave this up in order to pursue his passion for playing and teaching the classical guitar.

Eric has been playing since the age of 14, progressing through the grades (AB) and continuing to enjoy playing throughout his career in IT, incorporating some private teaching. In 2009 he made the decision to teach full-time and in 2016 he started Poco Music Studio LLP and has since established a large and flourishing practice. He has continued to study and has gained both teaching and performing qualifications, but is ever eager to learn more. Eric is the first Singaporean to hold a FLCM in Classical Guitar Performance.

Eric has taught and produced nearly 50 LCME Grade 8 Classical Guitar students and more than a dozen of LCME Diploma students. He is very well received as a patient, passionate and deliciated guitar teacher from the numerous feedback of his students.

He is also a Principal Study Lecturer with Singapore Raffles Music College teaching the Diploma, Bachelor and Master of Music program awarded by London College of Music, University of West London.

Eric is an Exam Centre Representative for London College of Music Examinations (LCME) in Singapore and his center, Poco Music Studio LLP, is an accredited examination center for the London College of Music Examinations.

Eric has a wife, Helen, and 3 children and, in his spare time, enjoys riding and maintaining his aquariums and aviary hobbies.

Mr Loh is an excellent teacher who is especially dedicated, patient and passionate about teaching his students, and the results clearly show. I have been greatly inspired after being taught by him for some time, and he definitely makes learning the guitar look easy!

For the past 9 years, under the guidance of Mr Loh, I have learnt much from him. A dedicated and experienced teacher, he has been of great help and supported me in my journey of learning guitar. Being able to work towards my diploma under him is something that I am especially grateful for, and I completely trust him to bring me to higher standards through his mentorship.

Mr Loh is probably the most passionate and dedicated classical teacher you will ever meet! Over the past 8 years, he has been very patient and encouraging throughout my musical development journey. I always get inspired to better refine my musical pieces and hone my skills whenever I see him play the classical guitar. He never fails to display, capture and bring out the finest essence in every musical piece sincerely. On a more personal front, Mr Loh exudes a fatherly figure – he genuinely cares for his students’ wellbeing. He is also very considerate and motivating whenever I seem downcast or exhausted from school work. I am genuinely very thankful towards him and his wife, Mrs Loh, for their care, concern, and professional guidance over the past 8 years!
