InstructorAbout
About | Laura Ratcliffe is a professional vocalist, vocal coach, entrepreneur, and curriculum designer who has dedicated her career to empowering aspiring singers and supporting music teachers in building sustainable, purpose-driven careers. Laura began performing professionally at the age of 18, launching her singing career on cruise ships where she developed her craft and gained invaluable stage experience. Her talent and drive led her to the X Factor Bootcamp in 2012 with led to touring and recording with her folk-pop band Mia and the Moon. The band gained national attention, performing at festivals across the UK and Europe, and releasing multiple original albums. These early years shaped Laura’s understanding of what it takes to succeed both as a performer and as a working artist in the music industry. Mia and the Moon were nominated for Best folk and country act at the UMA’s in 2017. In 2013, recognising a gap in accessible, real-world vocal training for adult beginners, Laura founded The Singers Club — a modern vocal coaching studio model designed to support adults in building vocal confidence, stage skills, and musical identity. The Singers Club provides not only high-quality technical vocal training, but also guided access to professional recording sessions and performance opportunities. Its welcoming, non-judgmental environment has helped hundreds of students grow in skill and confidence, many of whom had never sung publicly before joining. The Singers Club now offers workshops globally, along with two flagship, thriving music schools, and works closely with other coaches to develop strong teaching practices, client-empowering strategies, holistic programmes, and sustainable studio growth. To build a solid business foundation for this expanding model, Laura undertook a business diploma and partnered with Action Coach, studying business development, marketing, customer journey design, and leadership. This training, combined with her lived experience in the music education space, enables her to guide teachers not only in pedagogy but also in running values-led, financially successful studios. Her goal is to ensure that great teachers can thrive doing what they love — helping others — without burning out or struggling to make ends meet. As part of this mission, Laura created a CPD-accredited vocal curriculum and workbook, now used internationally to support teachers and learners alike. This structured yet flexible framework gives teachers the tools to track progress, provide consistent support, and adapt their teaching to a range of learning styles and goals. Today, Laura continues to perform, teach, mentor, and develop resources for vocalists and educators. Her work is rooted in the belief that every voice matters and that with the right support, both students and teachers can unlock their full potential. Whether she’s on stage, in the studio, or delivering training for music teachers, Laura brings a deep understanding of voice, a love for lifelong learning, and a commitment to helping others find their voice — and their path. |
