About

About

I have played the violin for over 25 years taking part in both solo, ensemble and orchestral work and performances.

I have been teaching violin for 17 years and teach a range of different styles and genres. I have many years of success in tutoring students through both ABRSM and Trinity Music exams and supplement lessons of those studying for practical exams with music theory.

I also work with students on school entry exams, orchestral audition preparation and ensemble work where appropriate and am happy to arrange lessons working towards personal goals.

Emily has worked with our daughter on violin for about 3 years now following a hiatus in her Grades exam progression due to covid. Emily has shown great flexibility, diligence, patience and dedication in helping improve her violin skills and the journey so far. She is highly recommended.

Emily is encouraging, patient and knowledgable. She made lots of suggestions for engaging my 8 year old son’s interest in the violin. I’d definitely recommend her as a teacher.

Our child has been taking lessons with Emily for the past couple of years and the progress has been remarkable. She has a unique ability to tailor lessons to our child’s learning style, making each session engaging and productive. Her teaching approach is not just focused on technical skills but also fosters a deep appreciation for music. Our child looks forward to her violin lessons with Emily. A highly recommended violin teacher!

Emily helped my daughter pass grade 5 music theory (merit!) and has helped with the theory and aural parts of Music GCSE. She is a great teacher who is well prepared for each lesson and does great notes afterwards for the student to keep. I highly recommend Emily.

Emily is an accomplished teacher who deals with her pupils with care, compassion and positivity. She demonstrates a clear love of music and adjusts her tutoring to cater for individuals. Emily has taught our son violin for over 8 years and it’s a total delight to have my very own carol concert every year!

My sons have been studying with Mrs Evison for almost four years! My elder son, 12 years now, came first from beginning, after 3 years, 1 hour lesson per week, he got an offer from Trinity Laban Main Programme. Now my little son, 9 years old, started for a couple of months…

Mrs Evison always encourage students to see themselves as a musician from the moment they start to learn music! This is not about how to technically play an instrument, but incorporating dynamic of music and understanding the structure of the music; She focus on not only technique and pieces but also rhythm, hearing practice, aural training, sight reading, scales, music theory(as you wish and she highly recommends it).

She is also very organized teacher, be responsive promptly. The lesson notes always come the same day via email. The notes include the contents of technique, practice information for piece 1, 2, …, scales, sight reading, what to do for next lesson. Her notes is so helpful and in detail you never forget what to practice.
