My name is Wendy & I'm a professional Flute teacher offering high quality lessons for students of all ages online via Skype, Zoom & More. I'm especially experienced in teaching children and love to offer exciting lessons for young learners and help them build their skill and confidence.
My lessons are always enjoyable for all of my students. I like to say that I take a fun approach to teaching. I will always make sure you learn everything correctly but I like to create a fun learning environment for all of my students and I feel that this is important when learning anything new.
I like to promote the idea that my students will go on to perform themselves. Playing with other musicians is the best way to improve your playing and I think it's something we should all aspire to do. However, if you only want to learn for yourself, this isn't a problem and I will make a lesson plan that suits your needs.

Above all else, I pride myself on providing lessons that you can enjoy. The main way I do this, is to build lessons around the genres and styles that you love and enjoy. It's very important to have a solid understanding of theory and how to read music, but if we can do this via familiar music then this will help you speed up the learning process.
I will always ensure we work at a speed that works for you. I fully understand that everyone learns differently & I will always adapt my teaching style to fit your needs as a student. I'll make sure we spread your learning around a variety of Sight reading, Music reading, Composing, & more. This will ensure that all of my students end up being well rounded players and musicians.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
I welcome both beginners and advanced students, as well as young learners and adults to try my lessons. I have experience in teaching everyone.

I attained a Bachelor of Education (Hons)(Primary) from The Education University of Hong Kong. This prepared me for my life in teaching and I really think that I'm ready for any challenge that it put in front of me. I will always try to share all of my experience with you to help you get the same start in your musical career that I did.
I have extensive perforamce experience & I performed in various Opera and Musical such as Marriage of Figaro, Elvira in Don Giovanni, Die Fledermaus, Carmen, Les Miserables, etc. I was invited to go to Beijing to perform in a choir performance as well because in the past I was the the founder and conductor of “Hotpotters ac cappella”.
As well as extensive experience in teaching children I also emphasise Musical education to my kids. My 10-year old girl is preparing for her ATCL exam, she is an active member of DGJS symphony orchestra and Strings Orchestra. She is studying in HKAPA pre-junior programme, and she is active member of JRE. Also, My 5-year-old girl is preparing for her ABRSM Grade 7 trumpet exam, she is an active member of Hong Kong Children\’s Symphony Orchestra.

I also have experience in other instruments which can help fine tune our lessons together. I study voice with the international acclaimed soprano, Ella Kiang, and I performed in Marriage of Figaro, Elvira in Don Giovanni, Die Fledermaus, and Carmen, etc. I'm is the founder and conductor of “Hotpotters ac cappella”, and I'm frequently invited to be a Judge in singing contests and kids talent show.
I've also taught flute and marching band in several famous schools. In addition, I was first flutist to the Open-University Orchestra, and member of the Viva Flutist. I think my experience in both voice and flute will help you develop your own style as a musician and learner.
Over the years, I have become interested in teaching music to young children, I achieved the Outstanding Teacher Award in 2019 and I'm a certified Kindermusik instructor. I also have two daughters: my 9-year-old daughter got Distinction in ABRSM Cello Grade 8 exam in 2019 and is preparing for her ATCL now, and the 5-year-old daughter has reached Grade 7 in Trumpet playing. I'm extremely comfortable teaching kids online and will always ensure their lessons are enjoyable and full of information.

Speed Test, is a very useful tool as having a stable internet connection is one of the most important parts to these lessons. Here you will be able to see what your speeds are and we will only need a speed of 3mbps to have a stable enough connection for the lessons.
As well as a stable internet connection you will need to have access to some kind of electronic device that has a camera on it. This could be things like a laptop, tablet or a smartphone. Many things have cameras on them nowadays so once we have access to one of these you are ready to go.
Once you have a device ready to go, there are many services we can use to connect for the actual lessons. The most common and reliable services tend to be Zoom, Skype or Facetime for Apple device users. There are other options too so if these don't work for you for any reason please just let me know and we can go through other possible options together.
I'm a professional teacher and musician who can help you or your children improve your playing and understanding of the flute in no time. I will make a lesson plan catered to your learning style and musical preferences. I think it's important to have good communication between student and teacher and I'm always happy to answer any questions you might have at all.

Lessons are charged at £15.00 per half hour, £22.50 per 3/4 hour or £30.00 per hour for all students.
My lessons are taken online via skype and zoom.
I'm able to teach both young learners and adults & I'm always happy to take on any challenge at all.
Weekly lessons are one of the best ways to improve your playing. Some students even take lessons twice a week.
Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will be charged full price.
