My Experience as a Teacher

Throughout my time as a teacher, I have taught a great many first time students of guitar. Watching beginners progress into enthusiastic and informed players is a deeply enriching process that I will always enjoy being part of.

I have also provided guidance to guitar players of varying musical backgrounds who have wished to delve further into jazz, blues and other traditional approaches. Though certain styles such as rock, metal or folk may sound far removed on the surface, there are plenty of intriguing ways in which the understanding of jazz can benefit all types of player.

My broad teaching experience has led me to work with students of all ages. It is worth noting that I continue to teach adults who have just started out, with excellent results. It is never too late to pick up an instrument!

More About My Lessons

Having spent years studying guitar in further education under guidance of masters in the field of jazz, I have picked up many teaching strategies and practice methods that can accelerate progress. Since I began teaching, I have prided myself on delivering effective lessons that get results in students and inspire them to embrace challenges.

As well as teaching the stylistic traits of jazz, blues, R&B and soul, I also encourage students to develop their own ideas through use of music theory. Though it may sound daunting to some, music theory can actually be broken down into simple forms that allow you to develop unique and elaborate chord progressions and intricate melodies.

My online lessons are as efficient and well structured as one would expect from an in person 1-1. I am confident that new students will quickly enjoy their virtual learning as much as I enjoy teaching it!

My jazz guitar lessons cost £12.50 for 30 minutes and £25 for a full hour.

Lessons take place on Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, however if there is an online platform not listed here that you wish to use instead then I am open to consider.

I teach all ages from 6 years old an upwards. It should be noted that learning an instrument can benefit greatly at all stages of life!

You do not have to attend every week. I completely appreciate the many logistical challenges that life throws us all on a day to day basis, however if possible I recommend leaving sessions no longer than two weeks apart. This is simply so that you get the most out of your learning experience by regularly reinforcing knowledge and skills.

In case of an unexpected event that inhibits your lesson attendance, I ask that all students let me know 48 hours prior to the agreed time slot. This 48 hour cancellation policy is simply put in place to keep my time and your money working as effeciently as possible.
