My Mission

Lessons Catered for All Students

I have been teaching and performing the guitar professionally for around the last 18 years now. Being a professional musician has provided me with some great opportunities and experiences that I don't believe I would have had in any other profession. I absolutely love to play guitar, perform and to teach others how to do it too. I love watching other improve and gain their confidence especially when using the tools I have equipped them with.

I pride myself on offering high quality guitar lessons that are suitable and tailored to any student no matter how much or little playing experience they may have. I accept that younger students will learn differently than adult learners so I will always take the time to get to know you individually and will always adapt my teaching style and content to suit your specific musical goals and aims.

My favourite teaching approach is to combine both music theory and learning songs to help put the theory in context and to see how it works within a piece of music.

My Lessons

Relaxed and Informative Lessons

I am a passionate guitar teacher and have been teaching and playing professionally for over 18+ years. Over the years I have developed a wide range of skills and have accumulated knowledge which has allowed me to teach many different students from all walks of life. I take great pride in being a versatile and flexible teacher who is able to work with anyone no matter what their current playing level is.

Learning any instrument is something that I feel should be fun. Although it can be a frustrating thing to do at times, I will always do my best to help keep you feeling excited and motivated about your practice and together we can help you overcome those challenges that we all face when learning a new instrument. I find that by being taught the songs you love most by your favorite artists that this is a great way to keep you driven as we move forward.

My Experience as a Teacher

I have taught as a peripatetic guitar teacher both in schools and in a private setting. In these lessons I have covered everything from playing your first songs, discussing music theory or grades, to playing that bucket list dream song that you have always wanted to play. I have also got experience working with large groups of adults as part of corporate team building events. I am honestly happy to teach anyone and just love to help my students reach their goals.

For me discovering music at a very young age was something that I am really thankful for. As a youngster I was really drawn to Rock music, bands like ACDC and Metallica are the main reason I ever picked up a guitar. I still absolutely love these bands today. As time went on my music tastes changed and expanded and I started to really enjoy things like Oasis, Pearl Jam and Led Zeppelin to name but a few. Interestingly, my very first instrument was piano but given that rock music was always one of my favorites, piano didn’t quite cut it!

I am a patient, laid-back music teacher who is happy to work at whatever pace/intensity that we feel best suits you and your needs. Throughout my years of working with so many students I have gained a few tips and tricks I use along the way to help get the very best out of my students. I think learning in a high stress environment can be very ineffective so I will always keep our lessons feeling comfortable and relaxed. I want you to feel comfortable in asking me any questions at all if there is ever a topic you feel a little unsure of.

More About My Lessons

I really enjoy teaching my student their favourite songs. When I do this we will dissect each individual part of the song and I always show them exactly how to play it as we go. I find this can be really motivational for students as it gives them something fun to focus on, whilst learning some valuable techniques and developing your skills on your instrument the whole time.

I have been fortunate enough to have performed on some really cool shows over the years and I have even toured the UK with ex Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles, played with people such as Reef, Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs, Rick Astley and Mel B to name but a few. I have played many of the UK music festivals and plethora of other gigs from London to the Seychelles.

I use these real world skills and experience in my lessons to offer insight in to the world of music theory and what it really takes to be a active musician in the industry. Studying the music theory side of things is a very useful tool for developing your abilities even further and allowing you to make smarter choices as a musician when it comes to composing, performing or learning music.

Music Shops in Ruislip

As Ruislip itself doesn't have a huge selection of stores, here is a list of music stores in the area that you can try for all your guitar needs and accessories as well as a record shop for all those serious music lovers.

Sounds of the Suburbs, is located 110 Victoria Rd, Ruislip HA4 0AL and is a great place to visit for all your record needs. Maybe you are looking for that next bit of guitar inspiration. Here you will find a wealth of CD's and Vinyl to choose from to suit all musical tastes.

Stompbox Ltd, is located 35 Joel St, Northwood HA6 1NZ and is a great local music store you can try for all things guitar. Here you will be able to choose from a large selection of guitars, along with effect pedals, amp, cables and anything else you could possibly need for your instrument.

Wembley Music Centre, is located a short drive away at Wembley Music Centre, Unit 8, Metro Trading Centre, Fifth Way, Wembley HA9 0YJ but is another great fairly local store that I would recommend. Here they sell a wide range of equipment that will suit all budgets and prices ranges.
