Welcome to
Hey! So glad you're here, my name is Gary Schmidt and I provide professional Piano lessons to students of all ages and abilities in Loveland, Colorado.
I have been playing and teaching the Piano for over 35 years now. In this time I have gained a wealth of experience both as a teacher but also as an active performing musician in live shows as well as being an active member in the music industry. I will always do my best to make sure your lessons are tailored to suit you specifically and to meet your every need.
As an all round general music lover, I personally listen to a wide variety of genres and I believe that this reflects in my teaching. My main teaching method is by teaching you songs that you know and love by your favorite artists or in your favorite styles. This helps keep motivation and drive when practising ensuring you develop to your fullest potential.

I can teach in a wide range of styles that spans from pop music to Jazz all the way through to Classical music. I am always happy for you to learn whatever music you love. I find doing this helps people keep going when overcoming the challenges we all face when learning a new instrument. I can also teach you how to train your ears so you can learn songs by ear.
We are all similar and yet so different at the same time. I understand that we all want and enjoy different things from music and as such I will always do my best to get to know you personally to make sure you're learning the material that you want to do. I am a very patient teacher and believe that my biggest job is to make learning the Piano as enjoyable as possible.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
The Piano lessons provided can cater for students of all skill levels, both Beginners and Advanced Piano players are welcome.
I am a full-time pianist and professional teacher/music/composer with over 35 years of experience in the industry. I still love what I do just as much today as when I started. In this time I have taught students of all levels from all walks of life, including younger learners and adult students which I find great pleasure in working with from all backgrounds.
I am very professional and flexible in my teaching style, my musical abilities and tastes. While my main training, which now consists of two degrees, is in classical piano I really enjoy playing all different styles and genres. This includes things like Pop, Jazz standards, Blues, Soul and light jazz and can play these genres by ear as well as by sight reading.
I really believe that keeping lessons fun and enjoyable is one of the most important aspects of learning any instrument. I find that this is the one of the best ways to ensure that we see some fast progress when learning, all the while enjoying the journey as we go. Students who go away happy and excited from their lessons will always learn faster.
I have been a full-time pianist and professional teacher my entire career which now spans over 35 years. I have previously achieved a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Tyndale College, Toronto, and the A.R.C.T. in piano performance (highest level) from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto. My time spent studying here has proven invaluable in allowing me to provide the highest quality lessons possible.
Over my music playing career I have also won several awards for music composition and recordings. These include two different album of the year awards for Best Piano with Instruments. In my lessons I like to call on this experience and offer insight not only on playing the Piano but on how to improve as an all round musician too.
Most students tend to take weekly one hour lessons and I find that this tends to be the best way to make consistent and steady progress. I have a vast amount of experience working with all students and I feel I offer professional and fun lessons catered to students of all ages and skill levels. Together we can get you to be the Piano player you've always wanted to be.
