Teacher Info
I’ve been teaching music for 12 years and absolutely love it! I love sharing my passion for music with my students and seeing them progress each week.
I am a secondary school classroom music teacher as well as a peripatetic strings (violin, viola, cello and double bass) and piano teacher. I teach children and adults and have worked in numerous primary and secondary schools across the North West teaching various groups of students from one-to-one tuition to small groups to whole classes!
My aim in teaching is for my students to enjoy making music while developing their skills as a musician. I am open to teaching my students music of different genres, particularly if there is a musical style my students would like to explore.
I have a 100% success rate with my students for passing ABRSM music grade examinations with Merit or Distinction, and believe that having a performance examination to work towards can really motivate students to progress. However, I understand that some students would rather not take examinations and this is perfectly fine, also.
Outside of teaching, I am primarily a cellist. I play cello in my own rock band The Mono LPs and gig regularly (when we’re not in lockdown!). I have also played with other bands and singers and have performed in a rock festival in Norway as well as on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury! I also play more classically with orchestras and a string quartet, with whom I usually perform at weddings and have also starred on TV programmes such as Hollyoaks!
As you can see, music really is my life. If you are interested in starting lessons with me, I look forward to meeting you and beginning our musical journey together!

I loved my music lessons as a child growing up and into adulthood. While I was studying music at university, I volunteered with the local In Harmony project, which provides free instrumental tuition in primary schools in deprived areas. This is where I found my enjoyment of teaching music and realised that I wanted to do more of it!

I’ve had Vicky for 4 years and have loved it! She helps me to improve and to address my mistakes, whilst remaining warm and encouraging. I’d definitely recommend her.
Vicky has been teaching my daughter since year 7 and what an absolute delight its been. Zoe has come so far and really looks forward to her weekly lessons. Vicky has encouraged and tailored her learning so well Zoe is now learning things for grade 3! Really pleased and highly recommend Vicky
I began learning the piano as an adult and Vicky has been patient with my fumblings and provided a great level of challenge. She is a personable and fun teacher who always leaves me feeling I have learned something useful and that I have made real progress. Vicky is not afraid to correct my mistakes but does so without seeming critical. Learning to play the piano online I imagined would be a real difficulty, but with clever use of camera angles and a clear technical literacy she manages to make me feel she is in the room with me. I really look forward to my next lesson!
Vicky taught my 2 daughters piano from when they were about 4-5 years old and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her. She is excellent with children, has tons of patience and a warm and compassionate nature with them
