Samuel Mitchell is a London-based professional singer and piano teacher and is currently completing a Masters degree in Vocal Studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance as the Kathleen Roberts scholar.
He was previously educated at Oundle School where he held a Music scholarship and went on to read Music at the University of Manchester, where he focussed primarily as a pianist, performing works such as Beethoven’s 5th Piano Concerto, Poulenc’s Sonata for Cello and Piano, and many contemporary works by other students.
Sam has held lay clerkships at Truro, Ely and Christ Church Cathedrals and whilst living in Oxford developed a thriving private teaching practice both freelance and employed as an academic music tutor at Oxford Tutorial College.
He now sings regularly at the Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral and has joined many leading vocal ensembles such as The Sixteen, Siglo de Oro, TheErebus Ensemble and Britten Sinfonia Voices.
Sam’s solo repertoire includes oratorios by Bach and Handel, Lieder by Schubert, Schumann and Beethoven, and a wide variety of operatic roles from the early Baroque to the twenty-first century.
Sam is a member of the acclaimed international vocal group the Gesualdo Six.
