Owen Ho is an official music tutor on the Royal College of Music’s Teaching Service, with over than 10 years of experiences in providing music theory and academic music tuition. Having been a top achiever at leading universities and music conservatoires, he has a solid background in music and is capable of tailoring to individual student’s needs. He offers tuition at all levels of music theory (mainly ABRSM) and academic music (mainly A Levels, IB, (i)GCSE).

Owen is currently a Doctor of Music in Composition at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Previously, he graduated from the Royal College of Music with a Master of Music in Composition with Distinction and the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with First-class Honours.

As a composer, Owen’s oeuvre includes works for orchestra, chamber ensemble, choir, voice, solo instrument, dance, film, and electroacoustic music. He is a prizewinner of numerous composition competitions, such as the AESS Song Writing Competition, the Arcubus Ensemble Call for Scores, and the Hong Kong International Composition Competition for Chromatic Harmonica. He has also received honourable mention in the IOCSF Choral Composition Competition and was a finalist in the Hendrix College Candlelight Carol Competition. Owen’s music is performed across the UK, Europe, USA, and Hong Kong. His music has been published by the UCLA Music Library, Goodmusic Publishing, and listed on the CoMA Library. He is grateful to the support of the Sir Richard Stapley Educational Trust, the Macfarlane Walker Trust, the Goodenough College Bursary, the Golsoncott Foundation, the Sergei Rachmaninoff Foundation, and the GSMD Financial Award.

Equally active as a conductor, Owen is the Artistic Director of Ensemble Matters, a London-based group dedicated to collaborating with creatives in and outside the field of music as well as performing traditional concert staples in a new light. Paralleling his commitment in new music and cross-artistic collaborations, Owen has served as the Music Director of the Goodensemble Orchestra (2018-22), a cross-conservatoire orchestra that focuses on works from the common practice period. As a freelance conductor, he also conducted the London Lawyers’ Symphony Orchestra and Choir, New Mozart Orchestra, City Wind Orchestra, and assisted in the Bloomsbury Opera. In recognition of his academic excellence, he has been a recipient of number academic awards, such as Foundation Scholarship for Outstanding Students, HKU Faculty of Arts Dean’s Honours List, Hong Kong Children’s Choir Scholarship, Bernard Van Zuiden Prize, Rayson Huang Scholarship in Music, Jao Yu Tsong Memorial Prize in Music, Run Run Shaw Scholarship, and Prof. Robert Lord Memorial Prize in Music. Languages spoken: English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
