I believe everyone can drum.
Born in Togo (West Africa) in a musical family, my grandmother was a percussionist in our village. After learning and playing traditional drums, I specialized my teaching in a djembe. I have experience teaching children and adults, in groups and in one-to-one. I like to share my knowledge, joy, and culture. With more than 10 years of performing with several bands and theatre groups, I’m versatile in my art.
As a music teacher, I want my students to learn the basics, the different sounds of djembe, how to hold, sit in front and take care of a djembe. My students feel happy at the end of my class: they can perform a rhythm.
I enjoy teaching traditional rhythms, my own creations, and students how to create their own patterns.
Music Qualifications & Achievements:
Music is part of our community and I learned music at home, so I didn’t receive formal music education.
I do believe one can always learn, so I am currently studying for the Certificate of Music Educator.
I’m proud when a class of 30 children can play together as an ensemble on djembe.
Key moments in my career so far were to play with Joss Stone in Togo, touring across West Africa and sharing the stage with incredible artists.
