About

About

My name is Leila and I have been teaching the piano and flute for over three years. I started playing the piano at the age of five, and the flute at age nine, starting to teach in my mid-teens whilst completing my GCSEs. I have just finished a Level 6 diploma in Performance Arts, and I will be starting a four-year BMus degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in vocal studies this September (2023).

I offer both flute and piano lessons for anyone from beginner to intermediate level, no matter what age! I have experience in teaching both children and adults, and will tailor your lesson to you and your needs specifically. Lessons can range from 30-minute lessons to 1-hour long lessons (or if you’d prefer something a bit shorter or longer than those, just get in touch!). I am mainly experienced in teaching classical music, however I am always open to exploring new genres and have recently worked with students interested in pop and blues.

I like to work in a relaxed environment, as I think it helps people to learn. Getting to know a student’s musical interests and musical background is very important to me, and I am a firm believer of having a good working relationship between teacher and student. The better we understand each other, the more effectively I can teach you and the more you will learn. I believe music theory is an important part of learning an instrument, so I often try to incorporate this into lessons. I know this can seem daunting, but music theory is easy to learn when put into practise!

I have worked professionally as an accompanist in Devon and on tour around Devon and Bath, as well as performing vocally and on piano around Devon and in Germany.

As well as English, I am also fluent in German and am happy to teach in German if required.
