Students of all ages are welcome to take lessons and many of our teachers have experience teaching both young learners and adults. Lessons are generally tailored to the student and you can learn in whichever direction you want to.

Take your Handpan playing to the next level!

Every Handpan lesson will be built around your learning level and playing level. Lessons will always be geared towards the styles and genres that you love. This enables the teacher to tailor a learning experience that is specific to each student. Learning to play the Handpan isn’t easy and if you have a teacher that truly understands your goals it will make the learning experience a very enjoyable one.

Beginners, all the way to more experienced teachers are all more than welcome to take lessons with our experienced teachers. Everything can be taught and it all depends on your level and learning preference. Our teachers will try their best to make sure you are more than prepared when it comes to learning and performing. Some of our teachers can even teach you how to write music or perform as part of a group or simply on your own. Check out each teacher’s profile to see what they provide for students.

Our lessons are taken both in person and online. While many teachers prefer face to face lessons. Online lessons are now becoming increasingly more popular and have become a big part of learning these days, especially with the advance in internet speed.

Both young learners and adults are welcome to take lessons. While generally students of any age can learn to play the trombone, some teachers do have a preferred starting age and this can vary from teacher to teacher but generally is around ages 4-6. Lessons are always built around your age and learning level and the learning speed is totally down to you as the learner. Always remember that our teachers care about you and your progress and will always be happy to hear feedback to improve your learning experience.

Can I learn to Play Handpan?

No instrument is easy and while handpan is often overlooked, It is an extremely difficult instrument to learn and the technique takes quite a lot of effort. Although it does help having some form of understanding of music first, beginners can also start the handpan and our teachers will be more than happy to teach you the basics before moving further with your playing. Learning any instrument can be slow to begin with but any learner should always remember that you need to walk before you can run, meaning that the basics need to be learned before moving on.

The answer to the question above is a simple yes, I firmly believe that anyone can learn to play the handpan. The question is more “Do I have enough time to learn the Handpan”. As mentioned before, it takes a long time to learn an instrument and you need to be willing to commit to both lessons and a practice routine. Sadly there is no magic shortcut to learning the handpan but if you have a genuine interest in learning then by all means go for it because I truly believe that anyone can learn.

If you can commit to a weekly lesson and try to practice 30 minutes a day then I truly believe that anyone can make progress when it comes to learning the handpan. It’s always good to have some songs in mind that you’d like to learn in advance for your teacher and then the lessons are even more tailored to your specifications. Theory can also be a stumbling block but our teachers will always make sure theory is presented in a way that is easy to understand and that you can enjoy learning theory in small chunks rather than everything all in one go.

When it comes to trying to find the right teacher for you, make sure you search our database and check out our teacher’s profiles until you’ve found one that matches yourself or for a family member or friend. Many people want to learn an instrument but fail to realise the time, work and effort it takes to learn something so please remember that there is no easy route when it comes to music, if there was, everyone would be able to do it.

If you have specific goals in mind, always remember to go over them with your teacher and they will always make a lesson plan that suits you as a player and learner. Our teachers will also make sure you learn at a pace and speed that works for you with attention to detail and making sure you understand everything clearly along the way.

If you happen to be a parent looking for lessons for a family member or for a child it’s really worth thinking about whether they will be really committed to learning and whether they actually want to learn or you want them to learn. I’ve taught students before who clearly weren’t interested or who simply didn’t want to be there and in turn this means the lessons are not productive and it’s difficult for the teacher as well. My advice would be to speak to your child and find out what they want, a good sign is always if they originally mentioned learning to you.
