Teacher Info

My name’s Rob Jacques, I’m a working musician offering bass lessons online and in Berkshire.

In my 15 years experience on the bass guitar I have recorded at Abbey Road studio, worked with producer Michael Smith (Elvis Costello, Wolf Alice) and Pete Brown (Sam Brown, Big Country) studied at the Academy Of Contemporary Music, and toured up and down the country with up and coming band Third Lung who have had support from BBC intro, BBC Radio 6 and Classic Rock Magazine.

I set up Jacques Bass tuition at the start of 2019, alongside gigging and recording it was another way to make an income out of being a musician. I never expected to find teaching so fulfilling and rewarding and have enjoyed every second of it over the past couple of years.

Music education has always been in my life from a young age. From learning the cello in primary school to playing double bass in an orchestra, all the way up to doing an HND in music performance. The great thing about playing an instrument is no matter what stage you’re at you never stop learning as it’s an endless journey depending on how far you want to push it.

“I’ve been learning with Rob for over a year now, and still enjoying sessions. Rob is really flexible and adapts his style and content to what you want to learn. From starting out with basics and techniques moving on to different styles and more advanced theory he has it all covered. A top-class bassist and a patient and encouraging teacher. Highly recommend!”
