About Me

I am an International London College of Music Examiner and trainer, and write articles for the Banjo, Mandolin and Guitar Society magazine.

I teach all levels of Classical/Acoustic/Bass/Electric guitar, 5 string Banjo, Irish Tenor Banjo, Mandolin and Ukulele. I have examined all over the UK plus New Zealand, Italy, Cyprus, Ireland and Greece and teach and examine to FLCM (Level 7 Performance module).

I have over 40 years of teaching experience, and still love all aspects of teaching at any level !! I have re-written the complete rhythm charts, technical requirements and questions for the current LCM Electric guitar/recorded exam syllabus, and help complete the Classical Guitar and Ukulele syllabi.

My teaching has been Quality Assured through the BwD Music Hub, and I hold the enhanced annual DBS clearance. In January 2015 I was awarded ‘Experienced Exam Tutor’ status by the RGT, for continued success with pupils in the exams.

I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians, and annually take the University of West London Child Protection Courses and other associated courses.

The increase in online distance learning has been a great success since March 2020, and all pupils have benefited from the flexibility and the variety of lessons we can do together.

I have worked along side Nick now for a good few years and have always enjoyed and appreciated his teaching style. Both relaxed and fun with a strong emphasis on progression. I recommend Nick to anyone considering the guitar.

Nicks lessons are so much fun. I started as a novice and now I can play all sorts of genres on my ukulele…..I’m totally hooked. Nick is always encouraging me to learn more and takes time to teach my requests too. He has a great manner and enthusiasm for teaching. So get yourself booked in and you could be a guitar/ukulele/mandolin/banjo/string hero too!!!

Nick is an excellent and versatile teacher with lots of experience in teaching both beginners and advanced musicians. He cares about his pupils and the progress they are making. Lessons are fun, well-prepared and tailored to the individual. He builds confidence in his pupils and is always encouraging. Highly recommended.

Amazing tutor!!! I am based in Verona and I actually have a guitar tutor but wanted some extra tuition VIA Skype during the summer holidays; I have now kept these on a weekly basis. Nick quickly worked out areas I could improve on and gave me multiple exercises to do for after the lesson had finished. After this, he explained a piece of music theory to me very clearly that I was struggling with, that I now understand 🙂
