Teacher Info

As a youngster, I studied piano and violin exams and participated in school and city orchestras. I then worked in the commercial indie and pop music business at record labels like Sony, BMG, and Rough Trade in London, subsequently moving to the US to work at EMI.

I returned to Scotland a few years ago for family reasons. I studied my degree in ‘Applied Music’ which includes composition, theory, performance, ensemble, music technology, scoring, sync placement, creating film music – so I have a wide range of skills.

I can help with piano tutoring and exam preparation, composition, theory, writing essays and advice for pop musicians, as well as progressive classical, folk and pop-oriented practical music lessons for all ages particularly fiddle beginners.

I love traditional folk music and play fiddle and accordion for fun with a focus in the pipe and fiddle music of the West Coast, Cape Breton and Ireland.

I volunteer in the local Sistema/Big Noise string education program and participate in many local community music groups.
