Hi, I'm Billy, a guitarist from South East London who's been performing live since I was eighteen. I was trained at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance and have over five years of private teaching experience. Having begun as a self-taught musician, I believe it is fundamental for students to first find their passion, as this will provide the necessary motivation to advance. Whether you've just got your first guitar, or you wish to build upon your existing skills and advance your playing - I will make sure to tailor my lessons to you. With more than seventeen years of playing, over five years experience teaching privately, and two and half years spent in primary schools, I am well versed in teaching both young and old, new and advanced students. As a versatile musician, I am accomplished in many genres and playing styles, including rock, blues, jazz, metal, funk, disco, country, pop, soul, punk and many more. Having helped students learn their first song, while also helping others improve their improvisation and soloing skills, I am confident and happy to teach students of all ages and abilities. As a songwriter and performer in my own band, I have performed across the country for many years, showcasing my own compositions. Nora Bee is a guitar teacher based in London with 25 years of experience in teaching. Passionate about teaching and patient! Currently more so specialising in intermediate and advanced guitar. ( With Interest in improvisation, composing, fretboard fluency, jazz and music theory, chord melody arranging and more.) Great with adapting for each individual students needs and wants. Over 25 years she have been teaching guitar for all ages and all levels, electric, classical and acoustic guitars. She is great with kids as well as adults – applying her teaching style and adapting to each individual student. Currently majority of her students are adults. Nora is comfortable with many different guitar techniques and Musical styles including jazz standards (swing), bebop, fusion, modern jazz, Bossa nova, latin music, flamenco (in the beginning of her musical career), blues, funk, soul, classical guitar, finger style chord melody, African guitar, avant-garde, jazz comping in duos (combining walking bass lines with chords) and bass guitar. Nora has played in most of the important jazz clubs in London, such as “Ronnie Scotts”, “Vortex”, “606”, “Charlie Wrights” and others together with various artists and as well as a leader of multiple jazz projects. Before moving to London, back in Latvia she was leading her modern jazz quartet, and playing in many other projects, including big bands, as well as being part of international jazz concert management organisations. Music Qualifications & Achievements: Studied jazz guitar at Riga Dom Choir School (2004), have taken many private lessons with teachers based in London and occasional lessons with visiting guitarists ( from NYC), as well as few lessons online. Nora took part in Berklee summer school in Italy, Perugia (2008) , where she was studying with Berklee guitar professor Jon Damian ), as well as Jerry Bergonzi one week long summer workshop in Spain, Cadiz ( 2007).

I am a professional guitarist and qualified music teacher with extensive experience as a soloist, accompanist, and band member across various genres including Rock, Soul, Funk, Folk, Latin, Reggae, Gypsy Jazz, Classical, and more. I play Lead Guitar for the band El Misti and we’re about to release our third album in 2022. I have a Degree in Music Education from the international contemporary music awarding body, Rockschool, as well as Grade 8 Electric Guitar (Rockschool) and Grade 8 Classical Guitar (ABRSM), and an Audio Engineering Diploma (SAE Institute International). I have travelled the world extensively researching world music genres, especially in Latin America. During a 2.5yr journey through Latin America, I attended the School of Mariachi in Guadalajara, Mexico and performed with Cuban street band, Los Jubilados del Caribe, in Santiago de Cuba. I am originally from the musical city of Liverpool, UK, however in September 2020, I relocated to Mexico where I am continuing my research into Latin American music genres and sharing my knowledge with my students. Nothing can substitute one-to-one learning. If you are a complete beginner, an intermediate player, or an experienced guitarist that has hit that ‘musical brick-wall’, I can tailor a guitar tuition package that will target the areas of your playing that need the most attention. In your lessons I will use Tablature ( a system of lines, numbers and symbols specific to the guitar ) and Standard Notation ( as used the world over in practically every genre ) to assist with the practical, hands-on noisy stuff! Many budding guitarists are keen to just ‘plug n play’ which is great to a point, but even a little music theory can help open up endless possibilities which make a huge difference in your development as a musician. I do encourage playing ‘by ear’ especially when considering improvising or jamming along to backing tracks or with other musicians but what notes will fit the chords that are being played? What key is the song in? What scales / modes / intervals etc. would fit? It all sounds very daunting if you are just starting out, but when broken down, the theory behind playing the guitar well can be easily learned with the minimum amount of time. With an understanding of how music is written, how chords are structured, how melodies are produced, how harmonies are found etc, you will quickly learn to get those fingers to go where you want them!
