  • How do I Recording Commission for Bulk Payments? (All Teachers)

Posted by Joshua Robinson on January 24, 2021 at 8:29 pm
I had my first session with a student yesterday which went well and she has bulk paid for five lessons fortnightly. Will I still have to do this monthly, or can I add on the six lessons even if some of them are next month?

Great question, either methodology works great for me as long as you are consistent in the way that you record lessons and follows the guidelines below. In terms of how to record each methodology on the platform, this can be done as follows:

    Method 1: On Payment Date

This method is always used for Birthday Vouchers, Christmas Vouchers or when someone buys the lessons as a present for the student. This is as we sometimes have cases where the individual who can take the lessons doesn’t take them and therefore without the method then the commission is never recorded, even though the teacher took payment.

To record the date of payment:

Date of Payment, Student Name, Select “Other” and add “0” mins for lesson length and £XX.XX for the relevant commission total. For example:

    19.01.21 / Alan Smith / 0 mins / £XX.XX / Notes: Sally Smith bought n x 1 hour lessons for Alan

    Then for each lesson taught:

    26.01.21 / Alan Smith / 60 mins / £0.00 / Notes: 1 of n credits

    02.02.21 / Alan Smith / 60 mins / £0.00 / Notes: 2 of n credits

    etc.

    Refunds

If you record the date of payment using this method and then the student asks for a refund without completing all the lessons then I will refund the commission for the lessons that is refunded to the student.

    Method 2: On Each Lesson

This method can be used for all other cases, apart from those mentioned above – often used for students who are booking blocks of lessons for themselves.

    26.01.21 / Alan Smith / 60 mins / £X.XX / Notes: 1 of n credits

    02.02.21 / Alan Smith / 60 mins / £X.XX / Notes: 2 of n credits

    etc.

At such point that a teacher does not believe that the whole blook booking will be used by the student then they should declare the amount not used i.e.:

31.05.21 / Alan Smith / 0 mins / £XX.XX / Notes: Alan has lost contact and doesn’t appear to be interested in taking the final 3 lessons of his 5 lesson block booking. Therefore, recording the 3 lessons paid for but not yet taken.

Of course, if the student then returns to take these lessons then just record them as Method 1 as £0.00 and Notes: 3 of n Credits etc.

Any questions at all on the above let me know.
